Big Sky Arizona Rainbows Like This Are Magnificent

I was heading south from the Anthem area yesterday to a new Taylor Morrison community called Northlands Passage just off of Lake Pleasant Parkway. The Sonoran Desert had just received a thorough 3-hour soaking from a much-needed rainstorm.

In the rear view mirror on the Loop 303, I saw the most vivid Arizona rainbow that I have ever seen. I decided to pull over on the shoulder and capture the moment. It disappeared minutes later.

The photo was taken in the late afternoon of November 21, 2016 from the bridge over the Central Arizona Project (CAP) canal on Arizona State Route 303 looking east.

I’ve always taken ‘The Wizard of Oz’ very seriously, you know. I believe in the idea of the rainbow. And I’ve spent my entire life trying to get over it.– Judy Garland, Minnesota-born singer, actress, and vaudevillian
